Whether it's jarrah, timber, oak, marble, granite, walnut
veneer, rammed earth or clay, natural and natural-look
materials can create a warm and humble space.
Teresa Rosano from Ibarra Rosano Design Architects
says incorporating colours and tones from nature is an
e ective way of tying indoor rooms to the outdoors.
"In the Downing kitchen, for example, we used warm
wood tones for the cabinetry and coloured concrete
floors that echo the deep brown site rock," she says.
"The yellow-green colour of the native Palo Verde tree
is also brought indoors with painted accents. This way,
the home extends outdoors and beyond."
