Smartstone is a surface company to watch. It
rebranded earlier this year and promises to release
more directional, engineered quartz for kitchens and
bathrooms – bench or walls – into 2012. The current
range features 25 hues sourced from throughout
the world. Dark-chocolate lovers will fall for the
Smartstone Cordoba, which has been used in this
modern kitchen, while cream fans will lap up the
tones in this Sydney kitchen, right, by architect Tony
Owen. Priced from $450/sqm including installation
(final costs can vary depending on colour and
pattern selection, and edge profiles). Smartstone

THICK & THICKER
When Classico White Shimmer launched into
the marketplace last year, this Casearstone
surface attracted a strong following. In fact,
people loved it so much, it’s been re-released
– this time in 30mm slab thickness, instead
of the standard 20mm. “This is in response to
the feedback and demand from architects and
designers and also directly from renovating
consumers,” says Caesarstone’s Andrew
Dixon. Priced from $585/sqm. Caesarstone
Shun standard and embrace ‘statement’! Halo Lighting has
secured a range of lighting designs perfect for the kitchen:
we love Itre Fit (pictured), Carlesso Scaleo and the Tobias
Grau George (left). Perfect accessories for task or mood that
will add instant ‘wow’ over the island bench or meals table.

MAKE A SPLASH Embrace industrial
style with these Imagescape digitally
printed glass releases from Glasscapes.
While there’s a large decorative range, we
love Brickwork (pictured) as a splashback.
